Rodríguez Abreu, Delvys

    Delvys Rodriguez Abreu, obtained his medical degree in 1998 at the University of Havana, Cuba. He trained in internal medicine and medical oncology at the National Institute of Oncology in Havana, Cuba. During his specialisation, he also followed a three months training period at the Catalan Institute of Oncology. After completing the speciality Board in Oncology in 2003, he joined the Medical Oncology Division at National Institute of Oncology in Havana.

    To deepen his training he spend 18 month with an ESO fellowship in medical oncology (new drug development) unit at Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland, Bellinzona, Switzerland where he obtain the European Certification in Medical Oncology, and then he spend one year as Clinical and Research Fellow at Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona, Spain, where he obtain the Spanish Certification in Medical Oncology. After that in 2008 he joined the Medical Oncology Service at Hospital Universitario Insular of Gran Canaria, Spain, where he is now director of the melanoma, lung cancer unit and early clinical development programs. He is a member of ESMO, and the Spanish Society for Medical Oncology.

    Dr Rodriguez Abreu´s research interests are focused on lung cancer, melanoma, lymphoma. He has also been involved in the clinical development of several new chemotherapy agents and a variety of antiangiogenic agents. He has published more than 15 peer-reviewed articles in addition to abstracts and book chapters.
